POWER for Today

POWER for Today
Life is unpredictable and sometimes scary. We face real enemies, whether at the office dealing with competition and anger, or in a home office facing self-doubt or apathy, or in the back yard facing rodents and pestilence. Use this reminder to begin each day with the power only God supplies.

P - Provision

Matthew 6:11 "Give us this day our daily bread,"
Lord, I'm asking you to provide what I need and what my family needs for the day. I'm asking that our physical needs be met. I'm not thinking of lavish meals, although sometimes I enjoy one of those. I'm asking that I can rest assured that you will provide. I won't waste my time worrying about whether I can make ends meet, because my life is in your hands.

O - Obedience

Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?"
Lord, I've studied your word and continue to do so, but often find myself acting without thinking or acting out of habit, only to later realize my words and actions wouldn't have been pleasing to my Lord.
I'm asking that your words take root in my heart and they come to mind before I stray from Jesus' commands.

W - Wisdom

I'm asking for wisdom today in my work and when interacting with others.
James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
I need this so often in difficult situations and when choosing my words. Help me to, instead of reacting, to hesitate long enough to hear your clear voice.

E - Excellence

Not that anything I do or say today will be perfect, but let it be done with excellence. No matter how small the deed or insignificant the word, let it be with all my heart and to the best of my ability.
Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."
Lord, help me see the bigger picture. The work I do is not ultimately for my employer or even for my family. Everything I do is for the Lord.

R - Repentance

May I keep short accounts. I am not perfect. No one is or ever has been except the Lord Jesus Christ. I will make mistakes. I will sin. Help me to see the sin quickly, to confess and apologize to whoever I have offended. Not a pretend apology, in hopes of appeasing the anger, but with genuine sorrow. And to ask forgiveness from the Lord, who I offend with every sin. And as part of that repentance, to learn from it and not to repeat the error. To make a new beginning by turning completely away from it.
